Was Jebe captured and executed by Kipchaks and Russians?
Oct 31, 2020 · It is interesting that the Mongols generally chose to credit the boast of capturing Jebe alive. Considering that Jebe´s vanguard was destroyed with no surviving Mongol witnesses, a pro-Mongol source might mention Jebe being in a vanguard destroyed to last man, and choose not to mention Jebe´s brief survival.
Who do you think were the 10 greatest generals in history?
Jan 18, 2025 · Jebe, acting as the flank guard, was able to intercept a Jin army under Hu Shahu from Datong which tried to concentrate at Beijing, and defeated it, but failed to utterly destroy it and so allowed Hu Shahu to take a circuitous route to the south and reach Beijing with his remaining forces. This seems like a point of criticism for Jebe.

Feb 6, 2025 · Jebe hardly had independent campaigns. He worked as a sort of long range cavalry commander under Genghis Khan, so like semi-independent. Muqali was left to handle the Jin theatre for years on his own and he also distinguished himself directly under the Great Khan.
Who were the best generals operationally in your opinion?
Dec 7, 2024 · That's why I don't think Jebe's and Subutai's march across the steppes to Russia can be considered brilliant operations. All they were doing was a reconnaissance in force. Something like Khalid's march through the deserts to take the Sassanids by surprise from their rear in the triple battles at Muzayyah, Saniyy, and Zumail is a brilliant ...

Jan 17, 2025 · So yeah, Jebe was an exceptional operational and tactical commander but rarely he handled stuff on his own.
