Captain and later Colonel Jan Templar was a Vektan soldier of the ISA Alpha Centauri and deuteragonist of the Killzone trilogy. He is the main playable character in Killzone and Killzone: Liberation, and a supporting character in Killzone 2.

The player controls Jan Templar, who was the primary protagonist of the original game. He can board and control several vehicles: heavy machine gun turrets, a tank, a hovercraft, and a jetpack. During some levels, a 'buddy' can be ordered around (although some are unarmed).
