The Institute of Technical Education and Technology (ITET) Act 2021 was enacted on 24 July 2021 (Act No 13 of 2021) and came in force on 28 January 2022 except for Section 31. The Act provides, inter alia, for the establishment of the ITET to operate and manage technical education centres and to deliver quality technical and technology education.

The National Council for Teacher Education has released the NCTE ITET 2025 notification and NCTE has invited online application for the four-year integrated teacher education programmes for the academic session 2025-26. ITEP is a dual-major bachelor degree offering BA BEd, BSc BEd and BCom BEd.

The ITET will also run a network of technical and technology education centres that will provide work based, on-campus and online education to prepare students for a modern, collaborative and fast-changing Career in Mauritius and beyond.
