Oct 24, 2021 · So my motherboard (ASUS ROG Strix B550-I Mini-ITX) comes with this plastic shroud that covers the top of the io, the VRM heatsink & 30mm fan. I'm wondering if removing the plastic shroud (leaving just the heatsink & 30mm fan) will it be safe for long-term use?

Feb 10, 2024 · It doesn't look like it's interfering with anything, and if I know what board that is (I'm 95% sure it's an ASRock B365 Pro4) it really should have that VRM heatsink installed. If you really need to remove it, there will be two screws on the back, but you really shouldn't remove it.

Sep 26, 2023 · Now, if your 10700 actually draws up to 65W like Intel “says” it will then you’ll probably be fine without a heat sink since the heat output of each MOSFET will be like <2W. If it doesn’t stay at 65W and goes up to 200W then you’ll probably want to find a better cooling solution for the VRM’s.

Jun 29, 2022 · This "strix" heatsink get kinda hot, i remove io shield to let some heat out. Is this an issue? I'd say it gets to 45/50C (finger measure). These what I assume are capacitors are not that hot (they can do 100C+ right?)
