Steel plate shear wall - Wikipedia
A steel plate shear element consists of steel infill plates bounded by a column-beam system. When these infill plates occupy each level within a framed bay of a structure, they constitute an SPW. Its behaviour is analogous to a vertical plate girder cantilevered from its base.
Infill plate interconnection effects on the structural behavior of ...
Apr 1, 2020 · Infill plate interconnection effects in steel plate shear wall are investigated. Finite element methodology is established based on the verified models. Prediction equations are proposed for partially connected infill plate systems. Parametric study is conducted to compare various steel plate shear wall systems.
Effects of Infill Plate’s Interconnection and Boundary Element ...
Aug 10, 2022 · The result illustrates that by having the full connection between infill plate and boundary elements, at least a 33% interconnected infill plate to columns could eliminate the significant loss of fundamental factors in SPSWs connected to beam only.
Steel Plate Shear Walls with Various Infill Plate Designs
Jun 15, 2009 · Regardless of the infill plate design, the steel plate wall specimens exhibited excellent strength, deformation capacity, and energy dissipation capacity, although the walls with bolt-connected infill plates exhibited a slightly lower deformation capacity.
In this paper, an analytical model is proposed to predict the behavior of the stiffened steel infill plate under pure shear load, using the PFI model.
Typical steel plate shear walls, SPSWs, are composed of infill plate surrounded by beams and columns designated as boundary frame elements as shown in Fig 1. The infill plate is slender, thus principal compressive stresses due to shear cause the plate to buckle and form diagonal tension folds at ultimate load (Amer 2014, Berman 2003).
Testing of steel plate shear walls with composite columns and infill ...
Apr 1, 2017 · Steel plate shear walls (SPSWs) are lateral force resisting systems that can be used in regions with moderate and high seismicity [1]. Conventional SPSWs consist of steel infill plates with all edges connected to boundary frame members made of wide-flange shapes [1], [2].
Experimental study of steel plate shear walls with infill plates ...
Nov 1, 2012 · In this paper, the nonlinear behavior of the composite steel plate shear walls, in which steel infill plates was strengthened by the fiber reinforced polymers (FRP), is experimentally investigated.
For this purpose, different finite element model of SPSWs with various span lengths and infill steel plates are developed. The models have the low-yield, medium-yield, and high-strength infill steel plates.
In this paper, nonlinear behavior of composite steel plate shear wall systems, in which steel infill plate is strengthened by fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) layers, are experimentally investigated. Experimental models are scaled one-story steel shear panel model, with hinge type connections of boundary elements at four corners.
