Right Use of ibidem and idem, once and for all - Discourse
Dec 13, 2012 · Hello, The way Endnote handles the use of ibidem (and and maybe idem if you configure the repeated field with this word) is incorrect. Many Journals only uses the Latin word ibidem in order to shorten the citation when it repeats identical information. The problem is that, in reality, ibidem means «at the same place», which includes also the same page. Consequently, …
How to insert ibid if author repeated in in-text citations?
Sep 27, 2008 · It is a pretty common practise/requirement in my field (human sciences) to use ibid. in-text, and the absence of a way to do this in Endnote (apart from manually, which pretty much defeats the purpose of using a reference management software in the first place) makes Endnote all but useless for researchers like me.
Ibid. fault - EndNote General - Discourse
Sep 5, 2011 · I have recently come across what I think is a fault in the way X4 handles replacing repeated citations with ‘ibid.’. My style is set to replace repeated data with ‘ibid.’ if the same reference repeats in consecutive footnotes but is set to ‘no special handling’ if the same source repeats in consecutive footnotes. I have two references with nearly identical properties.
Ibid. capitalisation - EndNote How To - Discourse
Aug 17, 2010 · I wonder whether anyone has encountered EN’s tendency to de-capitalise an Ibid., which replaces repeated data in a subsequent footnote, where the footnote begins with a tab. I am using EN X4 and Word 2010 (though I don’t think anything turns on the version of Word). My EN style is set up to replace repeated data in consecutive citations with “Ibid.|, Cited Pages”. …
Problems with ibid. in X6 - EndNote General - Discourse
Sep 8, 2012 · I just upgraded from X5 to X6 and now am having problems with the ibid. feature in repeated citations. In all previous versions up through X5, I had my output style setup to use ibid. in the footnotes (using CWYW dialogue inside of Word) when a reference was repeated. It was set up to insert ibid., page # unless the repeated reference used the exact same page …
Unwanted text remains after the word "Ibid" in footnotes - Discourse
Apr 13, 2009 · Hello there I am having an annoying little problem: I have switched the “Ibid.” function which I cannot *not use* as it would sound really unprofessional in my area…But I have a problem with this function when dealing with repeated Web Pages references. I have tweaked the “Web Page” reference type of Chicago 15th A to add the phrase “Accessed on” at the end of …
Ibid. in citations - EndNote How To - Discourse
Jul 27, 2008 · It would be helpful to know the names of the specific bibliographic formatting styles that require the use of Ibid. for subsequent in-text citations. My understanding is that the use of Ibid. for these styles is usually optional and the secondary choice - as with APA.
Display Ibid and page - EndNote How To - Discourse
Oct 11, 2019 · Hello, I would like to know how to perform the following action. I want that, when I use a quote from the same author with the same information and only the page that changes, it should mark me: ibid p. 18 (so, ibid and only the page). How do you do that? Thank you. Thank you. (I would like to point out that when I use the Ibid via the short form, it works pretty well but …
Chicago Manual of Style Footnote 17th ed. modification
May 11, 2018 · I played around and while I can get 1, 2 to work, I can’t get 3. it always removes the authors, no matter what I do. I think there is a bug. if I select short form for consecutive footnotes - it at least keeps the author, but also keeps the short title :-( I think you should contact the tech support team and have their developers look at it (and ask them to create a proper …
Ibid. issue - EndNote How To - Discourse
Jan 20, 2014 · Hi guys, I am having an issue with the EndNote’s Ibid. Generally speaking, my Endnote (version X2) handles the Ibid. well, in the sense that the Ibid. shows up when it should. However, the Ibid. comes up even in the middle of the sentences, which is where the issue lies. For example: paragraph Bla bla bla bla.[1] Bla bla bla bla bla. [2] [1] See Smith, 1996, p.25. [2] …
