George Greene wanted a medieval castle like a medieval lord. Iandra castle was built in 1908 with 57 rooms, castellations and towers but the construction was decidedly modern with reinforced concrete walls. The style was slightly Gothic but the interior was very Edwardian with wood panelling and Art Nouveau stained glass panels etc.

Iandra (colloquially known as Iandra Castle) is a large heritage-listed homestead 11 kilometres (6.8 mi) south of Greenethorpe, in the Weddin Shire, New South Wales, Australia.

Iandra Castle is steeped in history, both for the Castle itself and also for being a pioneer of the share-farming system. At one time, the estate had it's own post office, school, shops, hotel and church for all the workers on the estate.

Iandra was the first property to commercially grow William Farrer’s “Federation” wheat, which reaped considerably higher yields than the alternatives, and enjoyed popularity that was arguably the longest of any strain of wheat.

Iandra Station and Mount Oriel Homestead, known as Iandra Castle, was established by George Henry Greene from 1878-1911. Modelled on the English Manor system, Iandra represents a rare example of a complete feudal-like estate established in Australia during the Federation period; it probably has no equal in NSW or Australia.
