The purpose of the ISO system of classifying viscosity grades is to establish a viscosity measurement method so that lubricant suppliers, equipment designers and users will have a common (standardized) basis for designating or selecting industrial liquid lubricants.

ISO viscosity grade is defined by the International Standardization Organization (ISO). The ISO rates the oil's viscosity which is its resistance to flow (thickness) at 104°F (40°C). The thicker the oil, the slower the flow rate, and the higher the grade.

This additive (though it is not recommended for uses in all gearboxes, so check with OEM specifications), present in AGMA 6 EP, ISO VG 320, EP Gear lube, is designed to prevent wear in the most drastic of industrial environments.
