Oct 16, 2011 · Has anyone had this latest recall done on their Tucson's yet ? We received our notice from Hyundai today (December 2020). Hyundai says: the hydraulic electronic control unit (HECU) could corrode. Hyundai will install a fuse kit onto the ABS module and update the ABS/ESC software.

Apr 7, 2012 · The tech checked the connections and consulted the Hyundai tech line and came up with the same diagnosis of a bad HECU. At least now I'm more confident that the HECU is the problem, but I'm not pleased a car with only 80k miles would have the ABS pump fail.

The HECU is comprised of both electrical circuitry and mechanical / hydraulic components sandwiched together into one unit. If the Hyundai technician has told you there is an "internal fault" but the vehicle is braking normally otherwise, I have to assume this technician is referring to a possible electrical fault within the HECU.

Sep 13, 2018 · Most Hyundai's, when a HECU code pops up, the modules bad, they use crap from Asia. I've had 6 of my customers that need them, however if it's bad, your stability control, ABS, and cruise are tied into them as it uses brake power to control wheel spin, at least with my 07 Santa Fe, crap design that never should have been.

Sep 26, 2017 · Dealer ordered HECU and installed, told me this solved the problem, then told me it did not. Dealer now says issue is with drive shaft coupler, which is causing the rear wheel chirping noise when turning. Dealer reinstalled original HECU and ordered drive shaft coupler and should be in Tuesday, hope this works.
