I recently rewatched HxH and decided to catch up with the manga. The Dark Continent idea seems so interesting! it's a pitty that we won't reach it anytime soon. Of course the proportions are not precise, for clarity purposes, since the known world would look too small on a more realistic map; and we don't even know how big the real world really ...

Edit: We do know that Kukuroo Mountain is located somewhere in the Republic of Padokea though; however, the location of Whale Island is still unknown, while the Hunter Exam takes place in many different locations in the world.

In the OP image, It looks like we're seeing one bulge of the lake. But in the Full Lake Map, the continents of the known world are WAY farther from shore. But, that page has 2 maps. The first map of the Lake is smaller. In the second map, the Lake gets larger, but the continents don't even stay the same size: they get even smaller!
