Aug 2, 2006 · I kid you not, the test procedure in the manual is, "lay the plug on the head and kick. If you've got spark, the coil is good. If not, get a new coil". Kinda lame, I know... May 31, 2012 · I owned a 74 XL 175. Bought it new in 1974. ( I was 23 then and could afford a second car.) Rode it to work 15 miles one way everyday for 7 years. About 8 miles of that was highway speeds It would run 65 to 70 all day long. Didn't ever push it past that for long. Was a good bike and I got hooked on thumpers because of that bike.

Jul 2, 2007 · Good luck on your restoration. I picked up an SL175 from a buddy of mine earlier this year. My 175 has 3800 miles on it so the inside of the engine is like new. Of course, it will get all new seals, clutch disks etc. My buddy is a good painter, and already did the body parts in the original red with gold metallic. It is going to look good.

Dec 31, 2017 · The Honda engines of the time always had slight differences in the head castings between displacements. The 160/175/250 had different covers for the points which matched the various shapes of the heads. The "dream" engines were different again. The later more vertical engine models with a front downtube looked more like a regular motorcycle.
