Hod Eller, the Major League Baseball player, was born on Thursday, July 5, 1894, in Muncie, Indiana. Eller was 22 years old when he broke into the major leagues on April 16, 1917, with the Cincinnati Reds.

Hod Eller mastered the shine ball, and from 1917 to 1919, he compiled a 45-26 record and a 2.37 earned-run average for the Reds. He was on top of the world in October 1919 after winning two games against the White Sox in the infamous 1919 World Series.
