Is hilason worth wasting your time or money on? - The Horse Forum
Nov 14, 2019 · A few local gals (teens) bought Hilason/Tough 1 barrel saddles this spring. All three started having problems with their nice horses shortly thereafter. Mar 14, 2014 · My other two western saddles are slick forks. The first one I bought is a no name hard seat that I've had for 40 years. You can ride for days in it and step off like you just got on. Don't waste your $$ on a hilason. If you are looking at a new Hilason, your budget must be around $700 and for that you can find a good quality used shopmade saddle.

Jan 27, 2010 · I went back to having a couple of good wooden tree saddles and am very happy with them. I like flex-trees in theory, but in actuality, it didn't work well for me. Oh, on another note. I weigh about 210, and my Reinsman flex-tree was a 17" seat. I couldn't imagine them making them that large if they weren't meant to be used by a larger rider?

Apr 23, 2011 · Other pads that work well with treeless saddles include Equipedic, Haf, Saddleright, Supracor, Grandeur, and Toklat Woolback with UltraCell inserts. Saddleright and Supracor work best with saddles that have built-in panels as neither pad provides great spinal clearance. Hilason saddles are not well made. Be careful in using it.
