You can cup the pole with a pair of pliers just above the plastic, then wack the top of the pliers with a hammer. (You need a third hand to do this, so get some help). After a couple of blows of the hammer the end should come flying off.

Oct 1, 2014 · I quite often walk with the camera attached to the pole. If you hold the pole off the ground as you walk for short distances it is a pretty steady shot. When you stop, it acts like a monopole and you can slowly rotate the pole resting on the ground and get pretty decent 360s. Go to the GoPro site and you will find the mount.

Poles just make it easy. I trust my trekking pole more than a flimsy tent pole any day, but the trekking pole sees abuse all day.
