Books and articles have been written denying the doctrine of Hell—some have been bestsellers because they teach views of Hell and Biblical descriptions as symbolism. Such misleading teachings make people feel more comfortable and take the worry out of what happens after death.

In fact, the Bible indicates the opposite, for hell will be a place of absolute and total loneliness. In hell, a person will be cut off from others and from God forever. Hell, Jesus taught, will be a place of “outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth” (Matthew 25:30, KJV).

Don’t be deceived into thinking hell will be a place of fun and excitement; nothing could be farther from the truth. Not one word in the Bible about hell would ever make you want to go there. Instead, put your life into Christ’s hands, and make Him the foundation of your life — and your hope for eternity.

Q: My son is a YouTube fanatic and sadly listens to all the wrong things including repeating jokes about Hell and the devil. We’ve tried to explain to him that comedians who joke about the underworld are dangerous.

The Bible doesn’t answer all our questions about heaven, and we need to be careful not to speculate or go beyond what the Bible tells us.

Make sure of your eternal destiny by turning to Christ in repentance and faith and committing your life to Him. Then ask God to use you to encourage others who are overwhelmed by life’s burdens.
