Oct 11, 2022 · And while the Hell Hound is a Fiend, it doesn't have a Demon or Devil tag to it, so it doesn't technically qualify for either. Planar Ally would work, but that's a 6th level spell in the hopes of getting a CR 3 pet for a bit. I'd probably say it's fair to have them fall under either of the others I mentioned.

Felt like ramping them up a bit to stretch them into higher-tier encounters, potentially standalone or maybe 2 side-by-side (or hefty companions for a high-level boss).

Feb 9, 2023 · You are correct, infinite self-Polymorph into a hell hound statblock, at the risk of the change becoming permanent if you use the cloak too frequently. Even without using natural 1 = critical/automatic failure on saving throws, your character would need a +14 to Cha saves to never fall victim to the cloak's curse.

4E IS FUCKING BASED AS HELL. If I want a Hellhound, I want straight demon dog here to scorch the earth beneath its feet. If you wanted the Beast of Gevaudan, there are other wolf monsters to use 5e kinda works though, just would like some more fire on it somewhere.
