Happy National Boy Scouts Day. We're so honored to work with scouting year round and to celebrate today, we have our very own ODNR Boy Scouts to recite the Scout Law. A scout is trustworthy.

Scouts' Day or Guides' Day is a generic term for special days observed by members of the Scouting movement throughout the year. Some of these days have religious significance, while others may be a simple celebration of Scouting. Typically, it is a day when all members of Scouting will re-affirm the Scout Promise.

On February 8 we celebrate National Boy Scout Day to honor those who are trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent. Founded in 1910, by American W.D. Boyce, the Boy Scouts of America has helped shape many of our nation’s leaders.

February 8th annually recognizes National Boys Scouts Day. Since 1910, boys across America have been doing good deeds, learning survival skills, and developing moral foundations through the Boy Scout of America.

National Boy Scouts Day celebrates the Scouting movement that has trained so many American boys to be exemplary citizens. It began as a club for boys aged 11 to 15. British Lieutenant General Robert S.S. Baden-Powell founded the Boy Scouts movement in 1908 in Great Britain.
