“hahaha” is just a way of indicating warmth and friendliness to the receiver of the message, bec otherwise just typing the words may come across as cold and indifferent, and NR (no reaction). and Filipinos hate conversing with people who are non-responsive.

But for some reason, maybe because I'm imitating a noise rather than a word, when I use "jajaja" I feel very self conscious, as if I'm putting on a fake accent. I sometimes end up using "hahaha" instead since it feels more genuine to my actual voice, for lack of a better way to describe it.
