May 25, 2008 · The starting material was the HMS Hotspur kit itself, from the WWII Destroyer set. A rather old kit that seems disconcertingly crude and under-detailed after the recent HMS Belfast GB. No sprue shots I'm afraid - they were taken last year but vanished in a hard drive failure.

Also issued by Airfix Corporation of America as kit number S4-39 (1964 to 1966). Issued as 01205-6 from 1973 to 1982. Type 4D Box. Dual coloured round logo. 1972 to 1975. Some minor modifications were replacing the second set of tubes with a scratch built 4-inch HA gun, removing 'Y' gun to make room for extra depth charge throwers, removing the quad .50 cal machineguns and adding six 20mm Oerlikon cannon.

Dec 26, 2024 · Ofc his convoluted thinking over the years went also the way of a smaller faster ship (eg HMS Renown) and very lightly armoured fast ships, but it seems that his ideal of a ship with the speed of a fast cruiser and better armour and armement than a contemporary BB was always lingering in his mind as the ideal to be had.
