Jan 6, 2007 · WATER based coolant will kill a Hardinge HLV-H. The dovetail bed has a design flaw when compared to the inverted vee bed conventional lathe. The problem is that when the dovetail sides wear, the carriage will crab a lot more than an inverted vee bed type of lathe. Monarch 10ee and Hendey T&G are much better design beds.
