PVC vs HDPE- buried under slab - Earthwork/grading engineering
Aug 22, 2005 · PVC is the way to go, keep in mind that you are designing a pathway for methane migration, with appropriate cover 4" PVC will do just fine. I have seen and used this method for air sparging units and piliot studies in which I have placed …
PVC vs HDPE - Water treatment and distribution - Eng-Tips
Dec 17, 2008 · We have designed a water distribution system to be PVC. The system supplies both domestic and fire service to 20+ warehouses. After the contract award the gov't PM and the contractor want to know if HDPE pipe may be used in stead. Can the two be used interchangably? I've seen some literature where HDPE has be used to replace old DI lines.
HDPE vs. PVC (temp. sensitive) - Eng-Tips
Apr 4, 2009 · PVC is not an accepted material by IGSPHA because it has been used and has failed. PVC can not handle the temperature swings for geothermal applications. I have worked with members for the IGSPHA Technical Committee within the past year and I know for a fact PVC is not an accepted material. There are only two materials: HDPE and PEXa
HDPE inside drop Manhole - Waste disposal & treatment - Eng-Tips
Feb 19, 2007 · I would first like to say Thanks to all. I am trying to design a Master Manhole (>6'), just upstream from the lift station wet well, that will have an inside drop vs. the drop at the wet well. I would like to have the inside drop piping to be HDPE vs. PVC, due to the high-tech fusion bonding of the HDPE vs. PVC fitting.
Sch. 40 PVC vs. SDR21 PVC, how different are they? 2 - Eng-Tips
May 29, 2007 · Please note that Harvel manufactures both Sch 40 and SDR series PVC pipe from our own blend of NSF Listed PVC material. There is no difference in the PVC material that we utilize to manufacture these products (PVC 1120, Type I, Grade I Cell Classification 12454 per ASTM D1784) nor any differences manufacturing processes.
DIP vs. HDPE? - Water treatment and distribution - Eng-Tips
May 23, 2007 · I work in the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. Every water district in my area requires the use of DIP for all water mains (generally 8" in size or larger). They will also allow the use of C900 for water mains. I have been asked by a client to propose the use of HDPE for the replacement of an existing 3" pvc plastic pipe.
Methane Removal, Pipe - PVC vs HDPE - Mining engineering
Aug 22, 2005 · 1. 4" perforated PVC may calculate out to be too brittle/fragile to withstand settlement. 8,500 lf of removal line tells me its a fairly large slab (or sets of slabs), so there will be a bit of rockin & rollin. 2. HDPE will deform while maintaining serviceability right …
PVC vs Ductile Iron for water mains? 1 - Eng-Tips
Jan 14, 2006 · Oddly enough despite all of the assumptions, the report actually supports the use of PVC pipe because it states that PVC pipe is 4.7% less expensive than ductile iron pipe. That may not seem like much money for a small project, but 4.7% adds up quickly.
HDPE vs PVC valves - Valve engineering | Eng-Tips
Jan 5, 2017 · Both HDPE and PVC pipes should be fine for water service however HDPE and PVC both have limited resistance against sunlight/UV exposure so trust you already have a shed or some sort of protection. U-PVC would be the preferred option if the water is supposed to be used for living beings else C-PVC is better for a little higher temperatures.
