Dec 10, 2021 · The cable manufacturers are muddying the waters a bit, again, by using 4k to mean cables that support the HDMI 2.0 option sets (18Gbps) and 8k to mean cables that support the HDMI 2.1.b (48Gbps) option sets, instead of using the Premium High Speed HDMI and Ultra High Speed HDMI cable designations.

Mar 18, 2023 · It is true 90% of HDMI issues are the cables but that other 10% can be even more frustrating. Possible weak driver chips in one or more components, ground loop issues, oxidized/poor contacts, firmware issues, compatibility issues and the list goes on. Avoiding long HDMI runs are always a good idea but even that sometimes won't solve your issues.

Oct 28, 2020 · There are no certified , UHS HDMI cables longer than 5m (16') at present. And only passive cables at that length are currently certifiable by an ATC for the HDMI 2.1 option sets. For runs longer than that, and if you want to push some of the HDMI 2.1 option sets, what is suggested is the Ruipro 8k, Gen-3c.

Jul 25, 2020 · The advantage of a certified (QR label) cable is that at least you know that the cable was tested and certified by HDMI.org to meet the HDMI 2.0 (18Gbps) option sets. If you already have the cables as a "freebie" then go ahead and use them because at least you weren't overcharged for them and they do have the QR label.

Feb 4, 2006 · I have terminated HDMI cables and it is absolutely nightmarish! Do try it unless you are very good at soldering and a masochist. Actually, don't even consider it. HDMI at 95m is not really doable over copper unless you go through two cables and repeater/retimer unit with equalization. 60-70m is the maximum for one length of cable at 22AWG.

Dec 24, 2024 · If you are wondering what to use with the S90D, then look for an Ultra High Speed HDMI cable which has been tested and certified by either DPL or ATC (HDMI LA, QR label). Those cables cover all of the current HDMI 2.1b option sets. I prefer ATC certified cables (QR cable from HDMI LA) but DPL certification is just as good.
