Gunshot Creek: It's a major obstacle that provides a challenge to most vehicles. It is not advisable to tow campervans or trailers through this crossing – there is a detour track, well-signposted, before you reach Gunshot Creek.

A near vertical 2.5 metre drop into Gunshot Creek takes nerves of steel and some other quite large body parts to tackle. With an entry that may have changed over the years it still remains a bucket list challenge for many 4WD visitors to the Cape.

The ‘original’ Gunshot is a 3m, almost vertical drop and definitely a sight to see. It is attempted by a few 4wds every year, with some being successful and some coming off second best. The final crossing you will drive through on the southern section is Cockatoo creek.
