Oct 28, 2022 · As someone whose amp does not have balanced XLR inputs, I'd have a hard time buying Gungnir or Yggdrasil OG DACs because they have gimped SE outputs versus XLR. This is not the case for MIL/LIM/Bifrost. What I suspect might happen is a Gungnir 2 with TI chips, Autonomy, Unison, remote, etc. Otherwise Bifrost 2/64 seems to offer the best best/buck.

Apr 28, 2022 · Gungnir's story started as a result of co-founders Andreas' and Audun's frustrations related to regular clips, clamps and collars. They just didn't do their job right. They bend, break, slip, disappear, get stolen and have to be replaced a lot.

May 16, 2020 · Both the Gungnir and Yggdrasil are designed to be balanced first and foremost (and converted to SE after) so this might be a consideration. Jason at Schiit has said that the Bifrost 2 has a lower noise floor than either the Gungnir and Yggdrasil and actually runs the Bifrost 2 himself, citing form factor as one of the reasons.
