Gundaroo is a small historic village located about 35 km north of Canberra; previously in Gunning Shire and now part of the Yass Valley LGA. The village has been the subject of a number of studies and publications including a report by the National Trust of Australia.
A brief history of Gundaroo
The first European exploration of the areas to the south and west of Lake George was by Charles Throsby who, in 1820 and 1821, travelled extensively through the areas that were to become Gundaroo, Bungendore and Queanbeyan.

Gundaroo Men’s Shed
Gundaroo Men’s Shed Inc provides a venue for men to talk with other men and provides a facility that can support community projects. Thursdays 10am – 3pm Activities: Woodwork, Community projects at the Gundaroo Park. We also aim to service a variety of needs in the Gundaroo district.

Tallagandra Hill Wines - Gundaroo
The name Tallagandra Hill means ‘a place of many cows’. It comes from our own unique location in the foothills outside Gundaroo, north of Canberra. The land was originally farming land owned by the Sibley family and was used mostly for grazing prior to the 1990s.

The Gundaroo Cider Company is only small (defined as a “nano-cidery”) but has been supplying the local area more than 10 years. It makes only one cider, a dry, clean and crisp “New World” style. It’s on tap at the Gundaroo Colonial Inn and at other venues at different times of the year.
