May 31, 2010 · I had a Gorilla lift on my old 6x10 trailer. Dad bought a tractor and had to get a bigger trailer. I used the new trailer one day without the Gorilla lift and bought one from NorthernTool.com as soon as I got home. They work great. Just don't mount the cable too high up on the gate, or it won't have enough weight/leverage to stay down.

Mar 26, 2019 · I purchased the Gorilla lift last week and haven't installed it yet. I was searching something online and came across the Elegator and it looks much simpler. Have read where some people say the cables fray and pulleys wear out pretty quick on the Gorilla lift. So I'm having second thoughts and might return it.

Jan 3, 2024 · The Gorilla lift has one large spring with a smaller diameter spring inside it. You can connect one or both for max lifting. That's inside each square tubing. So really the kit comes with 4 springs: 2 large, 2 small.

I have a 6x8 open trailer with 5200 lb heavy axle I use for hauling my ZSpray around on routes. Tailgate is heavy and I'm tired of doing the fart/squat and heaving that thing closed all the time, wondering if the Gorilla is a good answer?

Feb 1, 2023 · The sidewall top rail is 28” in heigth which appears incompatible with the mainline lifts like gorilla. I‘ve also sent the dimension of the trailer and gate to Ballard to see about customized options - they do not have a lift which will work stating the gate will not fully reach the ground when in the down position.

Feb 4, 2011 · The Gorrila lift uses a 2 springs per side set-up, but I think they should have went a little larger square tubing to allow for a single heavier spring. Or sell different models for different gates. My next trailer will have a 5 foot long gate, which will be even heavier.

Jan 9, 2008 · What a load of crap this product is! I bought the set last winter to *hopefully* take the weight off of my trailer gate. Before I had an EZ gate, which is a one sided setup, and it just didn't have enough umph to do the job. From all the ads I see the gorilla lift looked to do a better job with heavier gates since it's on both sides.

Nov 18, 2010 · I bought a gorilla lift from Northern Tool last year and have been really happy with it. my 16 ft trailer has a heavy ramp with extra support ramps welded in to load the tractor and the assists make it a whole lot easier on the back. well worth the money in my opinion.
