I’m pretty sure Toji did actually stab Gojo in the head in the anime though — you can barely tell because of the angles, but when Gojo is falling back Toji swings downwards and makes it appear that it could be a neck/chest stab but with the manga panel side-by-side it definitely feels like it’s meant to be a forehead stab.

Mar 19, 2024 · I proposed it wouldn’t nullify the whole thing (such as if Jogo shot a 5 meter long/wide beam of fire, putting ISoH in front of it won’t get rid of the whole blast.) but even if it does, Gojo is still insurmountable and could land purple after getting behind him, (which he did when using red quite easily.) with purple being too fast for Toji to turn around and block.

The first strike was a combination of Gojo letting his guard down, exhaustion, Toji having no cursed energy (cant be detected/reeeeeally hard to detect), Toji using a normal weapon (meaning it cant be detected as well because normal means no cursed energy).
