May 20, 2021 · Pretty good chance I’ll build one of these this year for fun. I really like idea of being able to remove a rear wheel, mount the pump unit on the hub/axle and do some runs. A good way to test all the rental karts 😃 Ideally I’d like to have a dyno/pump controller too for ramp/steady state testing and use a load cell that measure torque/force …

Jul 6, 2022 · The first dyno I was involved in was designed and built by Doug Henline (yes: Proline / Douglas Wheel /etc). Brilliant design, IMO. The flywheel was around 550 pounds… maybe 2’ in diameter and 4" or 5" wide. It was belt driven by an intermediate shaft that was the same size as the kart axle size of those days (1").

Jul 21, 2023 · First of all I want to say how great of a forum this is. Thanks for all the contributions that are helping people like me have a chance at the track. A little background first. I purchased a Kart from a season winning Sr. for my son who is racing it in the JR. 2 4-Cycle class out at UMC in Utah. I’m trying to lean as much about Kart setup and tuning as possible and I …

Mar 19, 2023 · On the roller (road speed) RPM pickup side of things I ditched the original single tooth per revolution setup and “converted” to a 30 tooth by way of a 30mm, 30t 428 sprocket from the rental kart inventory and a hall sensor from Perek. 1 tooth is really not enough detail for an interia setup IMO and will be needed for a future brake ...

Sep 4, 2021 · I need some guidance here…LO206 red slide B&S Cadet. The standard around here is a Flame clutch run sprocket outboard on Intrepid Cubs, Tonys and Birelarts. Weight is 230 lbs. Our Mychron 4 shows max rpms which I use the gearing to dial in for the particular track, weather, tires, etc usually around 6050. I have my min RPMs on hot laps are ~3500-3900. I was told to tune the clutch to get the ...

May 25, 2021 · Hydraulic dyno always recycle the media, so without a large quantity of oil, the oil gets hot and the viscosity drops. With water you can just let it go down the drain. Keep a cool supply fresh water going to the absorption unit. I think that explains it. If anything starts leaking, no problem with water, big problem with oil.

Dec 2, 2022 · We were the fastest kart the whole weekend which was the craziest part, against a lot of local drivers. Go to GoPro the next weekend, swap motors still thinking it’s on a 10 tooth instead of 11 (I even counted and missed a tooth or something) and the motor was doing the same thing, but looked sluggish out of T8.

Nov 19, 2019 · Like Michael said, a good gauge is looking at EGT vs. RPM. We run a little colder than that for EGT, but at 16k I’d say we’re shooting for 1150° to 1170° (in freedom units, of course). You can run them over 16k, supposedly someone dyno’d one all the way to 17k+ and the engine was fine, but I wouldn’t go that high on track.
