The Glen Island Bridge Reconstruction Project will provide much needed safety improvements, upgrading the bridge deck, providing steel repairs, electrical and mechanical upgrades, new masonry and painting, and sidewalk replacement.

This 105-acre island property is connected to New Rochelle by a drawbridge built in the 1920s. After Playland, Glen Island is the second most widely used park in the County Parks system. One of Westchester’s unique jewels, it was initially developed as a summer resort by John H. Starin.

The Westchester County Department of Public Works has put out to bid the rehabilitation of the Glen Island Bridge in New Rochelle, NY. The bid on one of the most significant county capital projects in decades is due on April 10.

Rehabilitation of the Glen Island Bridge will require the bridge to be locked in the open to navigation position and Westchester County DPW will construct a temporary bridge to allow for roadway traffic to continue during the project.
