Ger Tor sits on the western side of Dartmoor, overlooking Tavy Cleave and the winding River Tavy. There are steep drops to its eastern side down to the river, with good views to the west towards Cornwall. There’s a simple walk up to Ger Tor from Nat Tor and the car park at Lane End, but still feels isolated once you’re there.

Ger Tor is located high above the tail, or western end, of the valley and provides sensational views of Tavy Cleave and Dartmoor's north moor all the way up to the remote Fur Tor. It's a great place that can be visited on its own, as part of a circular walk or before/after a wild swim.

Ger Tor rises above you. From the head of the leat, follow the north bank of the river into the heart of Tavy Cleave. You'll come to a flat area with the stunning Tavy Cleave Tors towering above you. This section of Tavy Cleave is popular with wild swimmers.
