At least in the book, Pennywise is delightfully amused by Georgie asking "Do they float?" when he's offered a balloon. It replies something like "When you're down here, you'll... float... too!". The phrase tickles It's funnybone and gets reused.

May 22, 2022 · Pennywise offers Georgie a balloon and the young boy asks if they float, to which the clown replies that they do, and so will he when he’s down there with him. In the movie, however, “float” is represented differently though also literally.

When Georgie asked if they float, Pennywise responded to the affirmative. However, when Georgie reached down to take his boat, Pennywise told him that when he was in the sewers with him, he would float, too.

During the ending confrontation in the cistern, there's a number of kids floating around Pennywise's trash pile. But, why? I was under the impression that he ate the kids; especially after he chewed off Georgie's arm and told Richie that he'd feast on his flesh. Was he marinating the floating kids? If so, were they dead?
