Feb 25, 2019 · Wetting the rag first helps you from getting dark spots where you may have too much stain, and gives you smooth, even distribution of color. You'll work in small areas and re-dip the rag in the can of stain as you need it, and if you notice some spots being too dark/light you can dab more onto the rag a little bit at a time to even everything out.
