Nov 26, 2014 · I currently use a MSI GTX 970 and it has 1 8 & 6 pin slot. i use a (x2 6pin+2) to 8 pin that came with the power supply and connected it to the 8 pin PCI-E slot. I plan to buy the bitfenix 8pin PCI-E and 6pin PCI-E cable and i was wondering if I could connect the 6pin to the peripherals 6 pin slot (thats what i think it is).

Jan 26, 2015 · So today whilst looking at GPU-z, I noticed that my ASUS p8z77v-lk is running my GPU, an EVGA GTX 970 SC, at PCI-E gen 3.0 x4, not at PCI-E gen 3 x16. The card is the only GPU in the system, and the only part of the system using a PCI-E lane.

May 9, 2015 · PCI_E4 (PCIe 2.0 x1 slots) is used for PCI Express x1 lane width cards. PCI_E5 (PCIe 3.0 x16 slots) is used for PCI Express x8 lane width graphics cards. PCI_E6 (PCIe 2.0 x1 slots) is used for PCI Express x1 lane width cards. PCI_E7 (PCIe 3.0 x16 slots) is used for PCI Express x4 lane width graphics cards.

Sep 29, 2016 · Nivida states that an GTX 970 cannot run at x4 at al. So when i look into GPU-Z: thats where i see that the card (stressed) works a x4 3.0. But In the Nividia Control panel it s says: Bus: PCIE x16 gen 3.0 I dont know if the nividia control panel only detects the specific slot (which is a x16 gen 3) of the speed that the card runs.

May 31, 2015 · I'm running an GTX 750 in a PCIE running at x4 mode, and even an GTX 980 could run at x8 without any performance lose. Note that SLI with z97 boards uses x8 mode, so dont worry about ting your GTX 960 at x8 PCIE slot.
