The Nissan GT-R Proto '05 is a concept car produced by Nissan. It appeared in Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, Gran Turismo 5, and Gran Turismo 6. The GT-R concept appeared out of nowhere in the 2001 Tokyo Motor Show, gathering much attention in the world.

Nissan unveiled a redesigned version of the concept car, the GT-R Proto, at the 2005 Tokyo Motor Show. It featured redesigned exterior elements over the concept car to improve overall airflow and reveal the identity of the car.

After "GT-R PROTO" in 2005, "GT-R" was released as "NISSAN GT-R", without the name of Skyline, in 2007. NISSAN GT-R, with the engine (V6 DOHC with twin turbo, 480ps, 3800cc) and "independent transaxle 4WD" with dual clutch transmission located in the rear, had stolen the scene for its unprecedented high performance even before it was released.
