swschrad is correct, always double check the fluid types with your owner's manual. The plugs on the transfer case will either be female 3/8" square plugs that require a 3/8" ratchet or breaker bar to fit into the square hole, or they will be 3/8" or 7/16" square plugs and use a cresent wrench [ouch] or 3/8" or 7/16" wrench to remove them.

I took my 1998 Blazer LT into the dealership to get a routine oil change, replace the master control window unit switch (pre-ordered) and to check the security light that periodically came on. I dropped my car off at 7:00AM and this is where the adventure begins.

Blazer has been making rattling sound when in motion. Took it to local trans shop and the transfer case is apparently cracked, no fluid left, chain is burnt out, etc.... Shop quoted me $900 in total to fix/replace including labor.

86 Blazer don't know what you mean exactly - it works or doesn't? Sounds like it just leaks - if so look at the level on the dip stick, check the vent on top for the tube and cap, vac modulator on the side has a diaphram and vac line up to the engine, pan seal, rear seal, and front seal (that one will see fluid dripping out the bellhousing up front - requires trans be pulled to fix).

GMC issued a recall/repair on the distributors--the bottoms of the units themselves have little apertures covered with metal screens. (If memory serves, the apertures were to provide ventilation and the screens to keep road debris from getting into the distributor.)

Mar 19, 2009 · Here is Mr. James, my 1975 GMC Jimmy High Sierra. Bought it in '87, just out of the Army, and drove it until it wouldn't go anymore. It sat in a couple of different yards, and eventually out to the woods.
