Dogleg shift-pattern 5 speed . This is the FS5W63A "dogleg" trans. Note the casting line around the center section on the otherwise smooth housing. The 63 transmission came with A14-powered B210 (HB210 and HLB210). It was not used by Nissan Competition for racing.

5-speed dogleg transmission. Stronger than 60 series transmission and well suited for bored or turbocharged A-series engine. It uses the same input yoke as the automatic transmission so driveshaft from automatic car will be required. I have rebuilt A series transmissions and this was opened to show the condition of gears which are excellent.

Jul 26, 2003 · Does anyone know much about the 77-78 B210 GX 5 speed tranny FS5W63A. It's got the dogleg shift pattern, and larger input/output shafts than ANY other A series manual tranny. It's the best tranny to have with a high hp A series due to it's stoutness.

To identify a 5-speed transmission, look for the series casting mark (56, 56A, 60, 63) on the left side of the gearbox. The series casting mark is on the right side of the gearboxes. 56-series trannies are small and light, and have these visible ribs on the case and bell section.

Nov 19, 2013 · I am currently trying to revive a '79 FS5W60L and will be needing one, possibly two internal parts for it. I will post a wanted post to the classifieds but wanted to ask here about possible parts interchange with the FS5W63A. The part in question is the first and reverse synchronizer hub.

FS5C63A: That's the L-series dogleg. Came in both L-series and NAPS-Z type front housings. The L-series ones are more common as the 200SX '77-79 had it almost in every car. The '77 710 and the '78-79 510 had it as an option on everything but the Wagon. The NAPS-Z version was only used as an option on '80-81 510s and was very uncommon.

The option of front case swap, do you mean removing the bell housing off of the A series gearbox and replacing it with an L series transmission bell housing. Whatever transmission that may be.
