The forest raven (Corvus tasmanicus), also commonly known as the Tasmanian raven, is a passerine bird in the family Corvidae native to Tasmania and parts of southern Victoria, such as Wilsons Promontory and Portland.

The Forest Raven is the largest and heaviest corvid (member of the Family Corvidae, the crows and ravens) with a large bill and short tail. In common with all corvids the bird is almost completely black, including its beak and legs.

Calls slow and deep. Very heavy bill, with visible throat hackles. Does not flicks wings when calling. Inhabits Tasmania (where the only resident crow/raven) and coastal southeastern Australia, with an isolated subspecies in northern New South Wales, where it should be identified with extreme care.
