
Ford 8.8 IFS/irs questions - Pirate 4x4
Jan 20, 2011 · The plan IS to use a 8.8 IRS in the rear. In the front I would like to use an 8.8 IRS as well. however i am unsure if the direction will be turning the right way. As I state before, I would use an 8.8 IFS as long as the axle tube that goes to the passenger side can be removed so the diff can be centered in the chassis.

Oct 3, 2011 · The V8 and supercoupe/XR7 MN12's had the 8.8, the Mark 8 has an al housing 8.8. Any 8.8 gears will work, not sure about the limited slip though, there is a groove in the IRS models to hold the stub axle in.

8.8 IRS vs 8.8 Straight Axle - Pirate 4x4
Jul 29, 2011 · What is the difference between the 8.8 IRS and 8.8 straight axles in terms of the diffs/lockers/LSDs? Are diffs/lockers/LSDs interchangable given the same 31 spline count? The vendors seem to list seperate IRS versions of their products. My research shows that the gears are the same, at least according to the Mustang and Cobra guys.

May 16, 2016 · Well with wfritts911 gone MIA, I've been left to develop my own Ford 8.8 Swap kit. This thread is the progress of the design and production. Design is based on a 2002 Ford Explorer's 31 spline 8.8 inch independent rear diff. I'm using drive shaft shop stub axles, they're not currently listed on their site, however you can call and order them.

Nov 22, 2017 · Going to point out that jason hit a personal best of 9.88 @ 137.8 with his turbo 4.8 using cheap neon coilovers and his super 8.8 swap kit which has NO issues holding down the power.

Oct 1, 2012 · The torque biasing diffs for the Ford 8.8 are about half the price of the Quaife for the R200, gears / parts are plentiful and cheap, I agree. Having said all that, I think that either your uprights are going to crack right where you welded in the diff. cover mounting bosses, or will loosen / break the upright mounting bolts.

Apr 4, 2007 · Couldn't tell you on the price, but i believe the exped. uses the same 8.9 front as the f-150, and i'm not sure on the rear. I do know that four wheeler did a feature on an 05 f-150 that some shop did a irs suspension conversion useing the expedition parts, its was also a sema truck so you may want to dig around the four wheeler site.
