Sep 18, 2024 · I'm new to here and precision rifles. I did some research and learned that it is safe to fire a 7.62x51 ammo in a .308 rifle but might not be vice versa. I also found that some precision rifle model will explicitly treat them as different cartridges (e.g. MRAD has a .308 win barrel and MRAD MK22 has a 7.62x51mm barrel.).

Sep 29, 2014 · The FNAR is truley amazing. It seems like a good battle rifle 20 rounds of 7.62x51 in a semi-auto short 16" bull barrel rifle. This FNAR was built in 2012 and was the last year they offered the 16" fnar variant in a Heavy barrel.

Apr 26, 2011 · Re: SCAR vs FNAR I have no knowledge on the FNAR, but just from the pictures I'm looking at, it certainly doesn't grab me. If deciding between SCAR H and FNAR, I'd have to go SCAR H. Now that said, seems like if you go that far money wise to get the SCAR H, it would be worth considering an LWRC REPR.

Feb 14, 2012 · Re: "Budget" AR in 7.62x51 It all depends on what you want. If someone makes the rifle you seek then financially you will be better off purchasing an off the shelf model. However if there is something specific you desire then you are better off piecing one together. Also you budget is really low for this type of firearm.

Apr 29, 2011 · Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the pressures are nearly the same (At least in my experience velocities are nearly the same for factory 7.62x51 vs. similar weight commercial 308). The big difference is that a 7.62x51 chamber is a few thousandths longer than a normal 308 chamber for reliable feeding under adverse conditions.
