May 18, 2022 · Simply put, a floor loom is a loom that sits on the floor and contains various mechanisms that allow the weaver to create longer, wider and more complex lengths of cloth. The three main mechanisms of a floor loom are- The Warp & Cloth Beams - These are two beams that sit at the front and back of the loom.

The Schacht Standard floor loom has an under-slung jack mechanism to raise the shafts. The jacks pivot from two points equidistant from the center and lift the shafts by pushing up on the center point. We employ a parallel lamm system which gives our looms a light treadling action.
