This time, Flik knows exactly what he's saying and who he's saying it to. He's not afraid. He's angry. He refuses to let Hopper pick on an ant he loves any longer.

Infuriated by Flik's defiance, Hopper violently knocks Flik down in retaliation, angrily giving the ant more injuries. Before Hopper can evilly squish Flik, Atta furiously rushes in to stop him, angrily tells him to leave, and helps Flik up, commending him for his courage.
