Jan 31, 2025 · The AWS D1.1 3G FCAW procedure qualifies you to weld in the 1F, 2F, and 3F positions and the 1G, 2G, and 3G positions. You are qualified to weld in the flat, horizontal, and vertical positions and not the 4G or overhead position.

Mar 30, 2015 · I have a few questions on procedure and joint detail for a 1" 3G test done with FCAW-G or as esab calls it dual-shield. I can find information on the joint detail that AWS recommends for the SMAW process, and also FCAW-S but not in -G.

Dual shield flux core is a trade name and is also called fcaw-g which stands for 'flux cored arc welding gas shielded" Dual shield flux core excels for out of position welding like vertical uphill and overhead....especially when its not feasible to clean hot rolled mill scale before welding.

Mar 9, 2022 · Hey guys we using D1.1 to quality some welders on plate using FCAW for unlimited thickness. According to Fig. 6.16 (2020) that is the way to go. We are going to test in the 3G and 4G positions on 1 inch plate to achieve unlimited thickness and all positions.

Sep 23, 2022 · Re: 0.52 Dual Shield FCAW setting for 3G 4G test I found on E71T-1 with CO2 200 amps and about 27 volts at the welding machine. Note charts you see the voltage is at the contact tip not at machine.
