It attaches to the fx6 without rails or a top plate and can keep a battery in the camera in case your v-mount dies mid-shoot. Great if you want a smaller footprint v-mount plate, but it would be a pain if you take the plate off and on a lot. I got mine used on B&H and saved a bit
