In 1974 the H42 4 speed transmission started to appear in some, but not all US market FJ40s. Oct 25, 2004 · It seems as if all the information regarding FJ40 engine numbers does not include 1979 through 1983. Everything I have found on the web ends in 1978. I’d like to try to build a matrix to cover these later years. If you have a 1979 through 1983 Land Cruiser FJ40, please post the month and year it was built and the engine block serial number.

Feb 22, 2017 · I'll start my question by giving some background. I bought a 1973 FJ40 with the original motor a few years ago and I rebuilt the motor. Mechanically, the engine should be near perfect. Unfortunately, one of the previous owners replaced my carb with a weber 32/36. It was auto choke. All crummy inside and in dire need of replacement.

Using as daily driver with lots of highway miles but with a few challenging offroad trips of course. 2. Is 300hp or thereabout too much given that the fj40 isnt exactly aerodynamic. 3. What 5 speed tranny to go with it?
