Duloc is a Lordship ruled by a Lord or Lady, who can directly be crowned King or Queen if they were to marry a Prince or Princess. When Lord Farquaad ruled Duloc, he was a totalitarian dictator who owned the surrounding land (including Shrek's swamp for a brief time).
