Dremel moto lathe - American Association of Woodturners
Jun 2, 2009 · Hundreds, if not thousands of turners have used the Jet Mini lathe, or ones similar to it, as an entry-level machine. Other small- to mid-sized lathes are out there (many on the used market too), which would be a much better choice than the Dremel Moto-lathe. You will be severely constrained at the start, and I don't think that you'll get very ...

Mar 27, 2006 · I have recently been given a used Dremel Lathe, model 700-1. I am learning to build miniature dollhouse furniture and wanted the lathe to learn how to turn 1:12 scale furniture legs. I have not used a lathe before. This lathe is bolted to …

Dec 5, 2014 · 1. Mount the Dremel on the tool post, adjust the compound to the necessary angle and then feed the Dremel tool forward (away from the operator) just as you would if it was a regular cutting tool. 2. Dremel and Mini-lathe - Ruger Forum
Apr 13, 2019 · Pictured below is the mini-lathe with the Flex-Shaft Dremel Tool head mounted: Here a closer shot with labels: BTW, the hammer plungers are made from drill rod and because I don't have any in my shop, I used 3/32" drill bit shanks, the same size and type of metal used in factory plungers.
Reviving an OLD topic - extended hammer plunger - Ruger Forum
Dec 13, 2024 · Before I got my mini-lathe, I used a Dremel with a cutting disc to "free hand" hammer plungers out of drill bit shanks. They worked but were not a pretty as the ones I make with my lathe. The cylinder latch on a factory SA pops up just a few degrees after the cylinder starts to rotate when the hammer is being cocked.
Dremel Moto Lathe - American Association of Woodturners
May 10, 2004 · I recently purchased a DREMEL MOTO LATHE MODEL 700-1. The price was right. It has no tail stock. The lathe is no longer made and parts are not available. I think this lathe would be a lot of fun to play with. Does anyone out there have parts for this little lathe. WARDS also marketed this lathe under their brand name.

Dec 5, 2014 · The "better option" in the small sized "non-professional" version has been a Proxxon grinder - it has better bearings and they are supported by a metal frame rather than being plastic that is more prone to flexing and softening with temperatures. Compared to Dremel tools it is almost double the money but is worth it to me.
Dremel tool jig - American Association of Woodturners
Feb 17, 2012 · I've made a few jigs to use either a Dremel type tool or a small router on my lathe. A wooden block attached to the tool with a hose clamp then held in the jaws of a cross side vise (clamped to the lathe bed) plus indexing on the head stock will allow you to put the tip of the cutter pretty much where ever you want- accurate but slow.

Jun 10, 2020 · The sketchiest part was chucking up the plate in my ‘3 jaw chuck’ to cut the 3/4-12 thread to match the nose of my Dremel. I just made sure I took light enough passes and didn’t spin the part too fast. There was one small hiccup with cutting the internal thread on the lathe: I have two carbide insert boring bars for internal threading.
