The 633 was a modified compact version with a 7 inches (180 mm) barrel, hydraulic buffer and simplified front sight post used by the DEA and the Department of Energy. [ 9 ] [ 10 ] The most common model is the 635, the latest version of which are simply marked SMG 9mm NATO. [ 11 ]

Often described as the ‘DOE Colt’, after a Department of Energy contract for submachine guns, the R0633 is a 9x19mm submachine gun based on the M16. The prototype, designated Model 0633, used a one-piece aluminium foreguard, however, Colt replaced this with the handguard from the M231 Firing Port Weapon.

It uses the same sort of modified Uzi magazines as the original Colts, and is a very good external reproduction while featuring modern internals that are rathe improved form the 1985 state of the art.

I bought a demilled Colt SMG kit that had seen very little use. With the help of this forum, I found the Garrison reproduction Front sight assembly and handguard-its a one piece unit.
