Diatto was an Italian manufacturing company founded in 1835 in Turin by Guglielmo Diatto (1804–1864) to make 'carriages for wealthy customers'. In 1874 Guglielmo’s sons, Giovanni and Battista Diatto, began building railway carriages for Compagnie Internationale des Wagons-Lits and the Orient Express .

In 1955, Diatto was taken over by Veglio & C. SpA and ceased to trade in its own name after over 500 successes in world motor racing. Diatto had a 120-year history and a well deserved reputation as high quality manufacturers of stylish, powerful automobiles. The company had a leading role in the development of the world automobile industry.

One hundred and twenty years of Diatto history, from 1835, when Guglielmo Diatto (son of Biagio), started a wheelwright’s business on the banks of the river Po, in Turin, until 1955, when the company was taken over by Veglio & C. SpA.

The Diatto Ottovù Zagato is a sports car designed and built by Milanese coachbuilder Carrozzeria Zagato for two of its clients. Coinciding with the 100th anniversary of the Diatto brand, the car made its official public debut at the 2007 Geneva Motor Show . [ 1 ]

Excellence of style: the classic design of the Diatto radiator with its straight line, its low chassis, the elegant body-work ………….became widespread by many. Nobility and luxury: 1911/1927, the Diatto is the Official Supplier of the Royalty House. Enzo Ferrari is among its first clients.

In Italy, in 1835, DIATTO, the carriage-building company is founded. In the middle of the nineteenth century, manufacture is broadened to include trams and railway carriages, most notably the luxury Trans Europe Express.

After showing some brief interest in a 3-litre SCAT for the 1920 Parma-Poggio di Berceto, Alfieri Maserati made what can be described as the first Diatto Maserati, a powerful car with Diatto frame and 4-cylinder 6,330 cc Isotta Fraschini engine (bore: 120 mm, stroke: 140 mm).

The name Diatto, thanks to its historical bonds with the world leaders of the time, Bugatti, Maserati, and Nuvolari, Evokes the pioneering spirit of the world of motor sport.
