But the Departed has just some really whacked out Boston accents. Mark Walhberg 's accent is the most subtle and believable, so it's harder to pick up. I guess I'm really curious as to what you can and cannot hear.

Sep 10, 2008 · The movie has many Boston references, and several Red Sox references of note throughout. None are more obvious than the stylish black Red Sox cap Leonardo DiCaprio's character, Billy Costigan, wears almost completely through out the movie.

While filming The Departed (2006) Jack Nicholson refused to wear a Red Sox hat because of his allegiance to LA teams, but had no problem dropping an n-bomb in the opening lines of the film.
