I personally prefer a heavier larger pin like radial or 3/8x10 made of stainless or brass. Some people prefer these pins in G10 which is extremely light and tends to move the balance towards the rear of the cue. Pin size and material give cue makers some flexibility along with other aspects of cue construction to effect hit and balance.
